Notice to the Trade

The IMDG Code (2010), adopted by resolution MSC.294(87), will come into force on 1 January 2012  under the provision of the SOLAS Convention. This means that any vehicle, irrespective whether new or secondhand, with fuel in the tanks and battery connected, are listed in this code with UN 3166, IMO class 9 and will be part of the regulation of SOLAS II-2, Reg.19. This also includes mobile cranes, mining and construction equipment, dismantled cranes with main body having fuel in the tanks and battery connected.

All concerned are herewith instructed to carefully check that a Dangerous Goods Declaration is accompanying the vehicle, and necessary reporting to port authorities is being done prior to shipment. The vehicles in question do NOT need an IMO-label on the vehicle/equipment. This instruction becomes valid for all vehicle shipments starting with Lombardia v.2202, seeing her arrival after 01.01.2012 in the various discharging ports
